Jody Lyne
Bedford Academy Band
Jody Lyne is a first generation Canadian of Antiguan descent. He was educated in Bedford, Nova Scotia and later studied at Dalhousie University, receiving his Bachelor of Music majoring in composition. Mr. Lyne joined the Bedford Academy staff in 2008, and has also been teaching at the Nova Scotia Community College since 2013. Additionally, he has been a private instructor at Long and McQuade’s lesson centre for the past 21 years, and has taught in various schools throughout Nova Scotia since 2000. Mr. Lyne was nominated as “Music Educator of the Year” by the Nova Scotia Music Awards Association for 2 consecutive years (2017and 2018), and has played and recorded professionally for the past 23 years in a variety of genres. He has been a member of Halifax band The Mellotones, for the last 21 years and has shared the stage with artists such as David Foster and Mat Andersen. Mr. Lyne has also performed with various groups such as Symphony Nova Scotia and has composed, produced and scored for several artists in film and television for almost 2 decades.
