Bedford Academy Band
Jody Lyne is a first generation Canadian of Antiguan descent. He was educated in Bedford, Nova Scotia and later studied at Dalhousie University, receiving his Bachelor of Music majoring in composition. Mr. Lyne's instruments of choice are trumpet and piano while other instruments are various percussion and voice.
Jody has played and recorded professionally for the last seventeen years in a variety of genres and has shared the stage or recorded with artists such as, David Foster, Nathan East, Dan Aykroyd, Dutch Robinson, Jeremiah Sparks, David Myles, The Mellotones, Asia and Nu Gruv, Afromusica, Rusta Gumbo, Symphony Nova Scotia, Meaghan Smith, Maddison Ave, The Platters, The Guthries, Hoppin' Penguins and The Upstream Jazz Ensemble to name a few.
During that time, he also has composed for a number of ensembles and bands, produced for artists and has scored soundtracks for film and television. Additionally, Mr. Lyne has been instructing musicians of all ages for the past twelve years on various instruments at Long and McQuade’s Lesson Centre.
Currently, Jody Lyne is entering his 5th year teaching grades five to nine band programs at Bedford Academy. Additionally, in his time there, Jody has created the Bedford Academy Children’s Choir, Rock Band, Jazz Ensemble and Junior High Choir as well as providing private lessons in brass and piano at the school.
